Stephanie oversees all operations of Alabama Rental Property as Director of Property Management. She has been in just about every position within the Spartan Invest and Alabama Rental Property family; from assisting in property acquisitions to leasing property to handling investor relations, Stephanie can do it all.

Before joining the Spartan team, she worked for Nordstrom where she learned that company culture and customer service are less of a business practice and more of a way of life. This makes her a perfect fit for Spartan Invest and Alabama Rental Property. When she isn’t at work, Stephanie loves spending time with her growing family.

Q: What inspired you to join Spartan Invest and what were the main challenges you faced?

I was inspired to join Spartan because my husband and I were starting to purchase rental properties of our own and I was super interested in learning more about the industry and we were wanting to build our portfolio at the same time. The biggest challenge I faced was learning something completely new/different and getting into a new environment.

I went from a large company where everything was so "corporate" to a small business with 4 people. Making that transition from a corporate job to a small business where you do everything and there are no boundaries was a big adjustment but awesome at the same time because I was able to learn so much, so quickly!

Q: In your opinion, what are some key opportunities in the real estate space going forward?

Real Estate investment is not going away. It's a tried and true way to build long term wealth. In my opinion, some of the key ways to continue capitalizing on this would be to continue expanding into other markets and finding untapped opportunities in these outside areas, which Spartan is doing.

Q: What's the business model of Spartan Invest, and how have you grown your revenue?

Spartan Invest sells turn key real estate. Alabama Rental Property manages all of the sold, Spartan Invest inventory. With continued planned expansion into other markets, sky's the limit on revenue growth!

Q: Do you think luck played a role in the success of your company?

No. It's a mix of good ole fashioned hard work, market research, recruiting top talent and maintaining honesty and integrity in all we do. The Founders of our company set it up with solid ground work, and also with the ability to be adaptable in changing markets, none of that can be attributed to luck.

Q: What are your goals for the future?

We want to continue growing our volume and revenue at a steady pace in our home market but also new markets.  We look to name our 3rd market area (outside Birmingham and Huntsville) in 2021 as well as expand into building more new construction homes.  Doing this without growing too fast can be a fine balancing act. Spartan is looking towards 20% growth in 2021 while ARP will grow closer to 30%.

Q: If you had to start over, what would you do differently?

Nothing, everything I have done, every job that I have had has led me to where I am now. No regrets! It's all about living in the moment and looking to the future. You can't look back and wish you had done something differently, you can only change what you do going forward if you are not happy.

Q: Can you talk about one woman who has impacted your life?

My mom. While she had a very different career path and background than I, she laid all the groundwork for being successful. Working hard, being honest for forthright, and also doing it all with a smile!! It makes all the difference!

Q: What are your favorite books?

Jim Collins "Good to Great", our company as a whole is very passionate about this one.  It's all about staying focused on what you are great at and what contributes to being great. Every time I read it, there is a new take away.

Q: What's your advice for female founders who are just starting out?

Don't give up! Things will get hard, but it's how you handle and get through the hard times that will make the good times even better!! Learn from the challenges and mistakes, because there will be many, but stay positive!
