Founder and manager of TARGET Meio de Pagamentos S/A, José Santos has extensive experience when it comes to financial management systems and digital payments. It has been more than 50 years of career, in which he passed through large corporations, and have occupied strategics positions and developed innovative projects. Its first company, founded in 1989, was already responsible for the financial management system of Elmo Calçados network, with more than 80 stores around the country.

At a time when even the use of credit cards was somehow limited in Brazil, Santos dared and founded two more corporations focused on payments options.

In 1995, he created IBR Administradora de Tarjetas de Crédito S/A, where he served as Executive Manager of the company, creating a credit card, responsible for the placement of 1,500,000 cards in the market and a turnover of US $ 60 million/year. And in 2002, he founded a card-processing company where he worked for retail clients of several banks. In 2005, Santos created its fourth company, this time already focused on the transportation and logistics sector: DBTRANS Administradora de Cartões de Crédito S/A, where he was responsible for the AUTOEXPRESSO project, creating automatic passes for payment on tollbooths, parking lots, fuel supply and others. In 2011, from an innovative project, Santos created the Target MP. Currently focused on financial management and electronic payments systems for the logistics and freight sector, Target MP has revolutionized the transportation industry by developing a mobile application that can be used remotely by the trucker, from anywhere, from cell phone, for different payments solutions.

Q: Why did you choose your present industry at this time?

My career led this way. I graduated in Business Management and Information Technology and, in understanding the needs of the market, I began to look for new payments and financial solutions that meets the needs of all types of business.

Q: What is the best/worst moment you can remember in your career?

My best moment is the present, because we are innovating and creating revolutionary solutions. My worst moment was between 1990 and 1992, when the government confiscated the population's investments and the economy virtually stopped. It was a very dark period for entrepreneurs and investors.

Q: Who is your role model or hero?

Q: Do you use any specific method or system to run daily operations of your business?

We have an agile, technology development methodology. In addition, we hold daily meetings with the executive team to define strategies for action and control. Because more than creating solutions, the technologies needs to meet customers demands and be functional. Many start ups do not succeed because they stick only to their technologies and forget to pay attention to the customers. We constantly do this control of satisfaction. They guide our future actions.

Q: Looking back - if you could advise a younger version of yourself to do something different - what would it be?

I would say to not spend energy with things and people that get you out of focus. Some things get in your way just to distract you. You may evaluate if it deserves you attention.
